Building your rural retreat at Rapaki will be guided by principles created by CMA+ and Wraight Design* to perfectly match this exceptional setting. Design guides propose discrete rural forms with minimum impact on the landscape, primarily using rectilinear volumes and natural materials with an emphasis on simplicity – to enhance light and shade – and maximise the possibilities of form and space. The use of walls, bund’s and haha’s for shelter and the seclusion of each building platform will ensure you can enjoy privacy and peacefulness – alongside neighbours of equal calibre.
The Rapaki Design concept.
Our conceptual approach is informed by this history and the geometries of weaving wool which inspired our ideas of creating a woven landscape of differentiated strands including restored plantings along dry stream river beds, new infrastructures of roads and lanes, old fencelines and stands of existing trees in a series of organically interwoven warp and weft geometries. All of these are laid out and stitched across the old pastoral grasslands.
